CAVALIER RELEASED 200 KILO BLUE MARLIN

Yesterday it was the boat EXPLORAMAR who released a 180 kilo Blue Marlin, today it was again the CAVALIER.

This morning the CAVALIER was chartered by Dieter Wagner from Germany who enjoyed together with his wife and daughter a fishing trip with us.

Two times, crew and clients saw this morning a Blue Marlin behind the lures, but both times the fish wasn't interested in any of the lures.

Dieters luck came at 1.45 pm when fish number 3 took the lure of the left outrigger.

Our German angler needed 10 minutes, with some help from the boat, to bring his 1st Blue Marlin ever, behind the deck.
It was experience captain Abraham who released the fish.
The Blue Marlin has been estimated at 200 kilos.

Dieter and crew Abraham and Hafid, congratulations again.

You like to enjoy us on one of our fishingtrips ?

To be on the safe side, we advice you to make your booking using e-mail or by phone.
We are normally very busy and are often completely booked for days and sometimes even weeks.

During the last days the trolling fishing was here in Puerto Rico very quiet.
Both boats caught during these days only some small Skipjack Tunas.

Yesterday, the EXPLORAMAR hooked in with a White Marlin, but this fish had taken a bonito lure.
Some beautiful jumps, made in only 2 minutes, an end on this show. Bad Luck.

The EXPLORAMAR was this afternoon still on their way back to the harbour, when they hooked in with a Blue Marlin.
The Marlin had taken de lure of the center rigger on a detph of only 70 meters.

It was angler Michel Tak from Holland who starts the fight with his first Blue Marlin ever.
Michel needed 45 minutes to bring the fish besides of the boat.
This Blue Marlin has been estimated by the crew at a weight of 180 kilo.

Michel and crew Billy and Oliver, congratulations again and thanks for releasing this beauty!

BAD LUCK

A little bad luck today for the CAVALIER.

It was at 12 p.m that Jamie Smith from the United Kingdom hooked up with an 425 lbs Blue Marlin.

The fish took a good run, starts jumping, spit out the hook, and was gone again.
Very bad luck, but you can't catch every fish.

The crew of the EXPLORAMAR enjoyed today a day off.
Tomorrow Hafid and Abraham from the CAVALIER, will take their day off.

REVIEW

Tonight I was looking to our tournament results of the last 12 years.

In the years 1999, 2000, 2002 and 2009, Blue Marlin Charters finished in different tournaments 4 times on the 1st place.

To win these tournaments we had to release only 1 or 2 Blue Marlins.

Last week, during the Pasito Blanco Tournament 2010, the boat CAVALIER released 3 Blue Marlins to be on the second place.

RELEASE ME !!!!
Fortunately, our billfish population is growing again.

GREAT TOURNAMENT RESULT FOR THE CAVALIER

Oh my God, what a crazy and super good fishing day today, for the boat CAVALIER.

Today we have fished here in Gran Canaria the 3rd and also last day of the Pasito Blanco Big Game Tournament 2010.

On the 1st day there were released 9 Blue Marlins. Two of these catches has been disqualified by the tournament commission.

Yesterday, on the 2nd day, there has been released 16 Blue and 1 White Marlin.
Also now there were 2 catches disqualified.

Also the Dutch angler Hein Hoogduin, who fished on the boat CAVALIER had relased on this 2nd tournamnet day a 250 kilo Blue Marlin.

This morning it was again Hein on the CAVALIER who hooked at 11.10 a.m up with a 'huge' Blue Marlin.
It was a strong fish, but with an expierence fisher as Hein in the chair, it wasn't a problem to release also this beauty after a fight of less then 25 minutes.

The release of this 2nd Blue Marlin brought the CAVALIER on the 6th place in the total classification.
But there were still 5 fishing hours to go..........

The catches by the other boats were today more or less the same as during the first tournament day.

16.50 hrs..........HOOK-UP!!!!!!

Only 10 minutes before the 'final' signal of this tournament, it was again Hein Hoogduin who hooked in with his 3rd Blue Marlin.
Hein needed only 14 minutes before captain Abraham could release also this, estimated at 250 kilo, Blue Marlin.

With the catch of this 3rd billfish, the CAVALIER finished on the 2nd place in the total classification.

It was the boat HEDONIST who won this tournament.
Also this boat released 3 Blue Malins.

Blue Marlin Charters like to cogratulate fisher Hein and the crew Hafid and Abraham again with this great result.

Last year the CAVALIER released 2 Blue Marlins and won the Tournament of Puerto Rico 2009.
This year in 2010 they released 3 Blue Marlins and fished a 2nd place in the Tournament of Pasito Blanco, so.................

ONLY ONE CAN BE THE BEST

From this 19 hook-ups there were released, 16 Blue and 1 White Marlin.

Also our boat CAVALIER fished successful today.

For Hein was this marlin his biggest ever.
Well done Hein and congratulations again with this great catch.

The Dutch angler Hein Hoogduin had chartered the CAVALIER during these tournament days.
At 10.45 a.m. Hein hooked up with a 'huge' Blue Marlin which fish took a 250 meters run.

BULL SHIT

Sometimes you can have days that the fishing is really bull shit.

Yesterday and today our boats CAVALIER and EXPLORAMAR caught only some small skipjacks.
The crew of both boats not even saw a fin of a billfish.

Hopefully times are changing, because tomorrow starts the Big Game Tournament of Pasito Blanco 2010.

Fingers crossed.
Not every fishing day can be a top day !

SNAPPERS AND BARRACUDAS

There has been caught with the trolling fishing this morning on the CAVALIER only some small Skipjacks.

That these Skipjacks are excellent bait for our marlin has been proved by Ole Gotfredsen.
Ole had chartered the CAVALIER this afternoon and he was very close by catching his 1st Blue Marlin.
Unfortunately because the Marlin spit out the hook and was gone.
Hopefully that Ole has some more luck tomorrow afternoon, when he his fishing his 2nd charter with us.

The fishermen on board of the EXPLORAMAR prefered this morning to fish on the reef.
On board, Espen Holte from Norway, Daniël Brodin from Denmark and our 2 Belgium friends Arno and Phillipe de Keersmaeker.

These 4 anglers caught together 1 Common Stingray, some good sized Red Snappers and 2 Barracuda's.

325 KILOS BLUE MARLIN

Patrick Cardoso de Bastos and Erwin Welling from Holland fished this morning their last of 4 booked charters on the boat CAVALIER.
They left the harbour this morning still at 8 a.m.
Unfortunately without success, because also on this last fishing day, they couldn't find their dreamfish.
Sorry boys, but the fishing can be a very hard sport.
Thanks anyway for the 4 nice fishing trips which we had with you.

The crew of the CAVALIER fished in the afternoon with their clients on the 23 meter reef.
There has been caught lots of Seabreams.

The heaviest fish on this trip was a Roughtail Stingray with a weight of approximately 125 kilo. (view: Hall of Fame)
Philippe de Keersmaeker from Belgium caught a good sized Butterfly ray and his son Arno a Common Stingray.

It was also on the EXPLORAMAR the last fishing day for Steve and Lesly Prowse from England.

At 12.15 p.m. Steve hooked up with a Blue Marlin.
The fish took a 500 meter run and Steve needed about 50 minutes to bring this 'giant' back to the boat.
We saw that the line was tangled around the tale of the fish.
The crew tried everything to safe this beauty but unfotunately without success.

Shit happens and the fish died behind the deck.

In the harbour we have cleaned and sold the fish.
The yield we will donate to the TBF.

REEF FISHING

Today the EXPLORAMAR fished with their clients Lesly and Steve Prowse on the reef of Puerto Rico.
Both fishermen prefer the reef fishing more than the trolling fishing.
They caught this morning, 4 good sized Rays and 7 Red Snappers.

Patrick and Erwin had today a little disappointing trip on the CAVALIER.
Both fishermen + crew Hafid and Abraham tried everything to find a marlin, but unfortuantely without success.
Patrick and Erwin will try it tomorrow again.

75 KILO BLUE MARLIN RELEASED

Sure that you agree with me that not all Blue Marlins can be 425 kilo.
But it was a beautiful catch.

Matteo Volante fished this morning, together with his father, his second charter on the boat CAVALIER.
Except the catches of Skipjack Tunas, hooked Matteo this morning in with a Blue Marlin.
He caught his first Blue Marlin ever on only 50 lbs line.
Not the heaviest one of the season, but with a weight, estimated by the crew on 75 kilo, a beautiful fish to release.

Well done.

22 KILO WAHOO

Yesterday and today we had here in the South of Gran Canaria the Sirocco.

The Sirocco is a very hard and strong wind from the African mainland (Sahara)
With this föhn wind the temperatures pending at up to 45 till 48 degrees Celsius.

So with this hard wind our fishing area was also a lot smaller than normal.
The boats fished during the last days, till a max of 5 miles from the shore.

The fishing in these swallow waters brought lots of Skipjacks, Dorado's and 2 Wahoo's.

This morning it was the Finnish fisher Sami Saarela who caught on the EXPLORAMAR also a 22 kilo Wahoo.

Hopefully tomorrow we can go back to our marlin area?
